  • Well i phoned the council tax office who told me to let them in as nothing will be taken, my solicitor said to let them in as the court order says they have to get the inventory of goods by law.

They would not accept a payment until the inventory was done, they said it was by law. i asked what happens if we dont grant the invenory list but are willing to pay the money, they said they cant accept any money. If i wanted to get the court order changed, id have to go to crown court to try have it altered.

The guy assured me nothing would be taken unless i failed to make a payment, in which case goods would be seized, but i have no plans to miss a payment.

My solicitor, at first, said do not let them in whatsoever, lock your windows, doors etc. I phoned the guy back and told him that i'd phoned the solicitor and hes advised to not let you in and that you dont need an inventory of goods. He asked for his number, he phoned, then my solicitor confirmed that he does infact need the list because of the court order.

    Im in England btw.

I refer to my earlier comments. In summary:
There's no such thing as a court order that allows (or requires) them to force entry to your property to list or take goods. The Liability Order, which is what they will have, allows them to attempt to gain peaceful entry if they are able to do so. That's all. See this summary.

The bailiff and the council lied to you and your solicitor is an incompetent fool who you should be complaining about. That's all there is to it, basically.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything
