Word of Warning

Since I started entering more competitions about a month ago, I have received in the last week alone three emails saying I have won millions of euros in e-mail lotteries, and a fourth one from a kind person in Nigeria, who offered to share several million pounds with me if I would merely forward on my personal details. I am sure pretty much everyone on this site is sufficiently savvy to know just to delete this kind of stuff, but just in case don't even think of replying.
Also last night I received another email which purported to be from one of the BBC food sites. Fortunately googlemail flagged it up with a huge warning, and I just deleted it. However it did from a cursory inspection appear genuine. I just hope everyone is being circumspect. As I got the BBC one late at night, I almost opened it in a tired state.
Anyway that's all for now - good luck fellow compers!

I think it's safe to view an email, just be careful with downloading attachments.
Note though google doesn't always get it right. I once found a TV in my Spam folder, a genuine winning message (WEM), luckily I checked that day and didn't just empty it.
If you are unsure if an email is genuine, you could post it here (minus any private details) and I'm sure other MSErs would help out. The folks here are pretty clued up.
