  • Hi Prouddaddy

Congratulations on starting your journey to a debt free life.

    :T

I hope the CAP are going to help you turn things around. In the meantime it may also be worth while giving one of the debt charities a call (CCCS for example) as they will be able to help too.

Rather than write a great big essay have a look at my LBM (see link in my signature) as I have been through the same sort of things too so it may help you with coming to terms with what you will need to do as well.

Just a thought but I would suggest you make your location a little more vague in your profile.

It doesn't really identify you as such but unfortunately debt collection agencies do trawl these boards occasionally and if you do need to post for some help on a specific agency it may be enough to help them suspect who you are.

Once you start facing things and starting to deal with things in practical ways you will notice the relief will be almost tangible.

Again well done on making that first step :)

Just wanted to say that CAP are actually a debt charity, they do exactly the same thing as CCCS but come to your home and talk to you in person rather than over the 'phone. Just wanted to mention that, in case others are not sure what it is that CAP actually do. They have been amazing, taken all our paperwork away and came back two weeks later with a DMP Version 1 for us to go through with them, the service is fantastic, would definitely recommend them.
  • Good to know there is another one out there, thanks for the amendment! :)

The reason for my suggestion was only from being in the OP's position and knowing that 2-3 weeks can be a long time when you have nasty DCA's phoning you constantly and getting letters in the post every day.

Talking to someone who can give you some sound non-judgemental advice and are not looking to take money off you themselves is such a rare thing nowadays!

I totally agree, it's so great that these charities exist to help. :)
