Latest "letter" from Santander is a bit random...

I wondered what the hell it was when I saw it coz I could see yellow paper thru the window on the envelope.

All it says inside is "Urgent message from Santander regarding your credit card account" and "On receipt of this message please telephone 0845....."

It just seems so random to send a letter with no detail in it at all and I suspect that the urgent message is to tell me that I am behind in my payments coz I can only afford to give them a token payment.

I don't answer the phone to them coz I don't see the point in discussing a higher payment when I can't afford to pay any more...

I have sent them all the required info like a budget, list of creditors, etc so until my circumstances change I can't do anything else.

It's just such a change to receive correspondence that makes me smile and where the debtor seems the desperate one...

Has anyone else had one of these "letters" from Santander or anyone else?
You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an
"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs :p :rotfl:

  • Yes its a standard 'fishing' letter.

If they've not been able to speak with you on the phone (i.e. have one of their trained 'negotiators' to harrass and bully you) this is one of those tactics to try to get you to call them.

It also paves the way for them to constantly hassle you on the phone as they then use the opportunity to confirm your contact details (should you have been foolish enough to call them).

Keep everything in writing and you stay in control, they don't like that :)
