The BBC has posted an interactive map of England to sit alongside this article, showing which areas are likely to be hit hardest.
Worst hit areas include: Redcar/Cleveland; Hartlepool; Sunderland; Barrow in Furness; Burnley; Mansfield; Leicester; Sandwell; Stoke as well as in the south Thanet.
Best areas include St Albans; Richmond upon Thames; South Cambridge. Elmbridge is no 1.

I was involved in a project which brought over a hundred sales force jobs (good income) from Birmingham into a district of Stockport. Luvverrly jubberrly.
Some of Stockport is quite nice, some less so. It reflects in property prices. I can say from personal experience the same is true of Bracknell, Enfield, Stevenage etc.0
