If you live in Sheffield and over the last 3 days had a leaflet posted through your door offering a doorstep type loan, could you please get in touch with Handyman123 about it.

It is alleged that the Guy behind this is only semi legal. He started off as a Loan Shark.

When not if you can't pay, he uses illegal methods to collect. Beware the bouncer looking types, they are not known for a sense of humour.

Allegedly the Guy running this operation has no office, no staff, only those he uses to enforce collection on an add hock basis. He is in his 70's and has recently returned to the UK from Spain in order to receive medical treatment and to claim for injuries received while falling drunk off of a roof while fitting an Ariel.

He started off illegally back in the 70's. He says he is a licenced Credit Broker. I am Not so sure?

If anyone has received one of his leaflets, could you post it up on photobucket and let me have the link please.

If this chap is doing what I believe, I would like to shut him down ASAP.

If anyone wonders what business of Handy's this is. I owe this guy a Great Big Favour :whistle::whistle:

Allegedly he used to like to hit Women, and after abandoning his 4 sons back in the 70's is now trying to recruit them into the Family Business:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I hope I haven't gone to far with this post and get it deleted.

I would just like anyone in Sheffield who has had a leaflet through the door in the last 3 days to think twice, no matter how desperate they are. I know for a fact that he has signed up 3 more people today.

If this chap is as illegal as I believe please help me close him down.

Thanks to all, Handy.

Be careful with how you phrase what you've written (ie use 'allegedly' a bit more often) or you could end up in trouble for libel.
    Illegitimi non carborundum.
  • Just Bumping up. I suppose most of the people who would use a Doorstep Loan, will not have found their way to MSE and DFW yet.

    Regards to all, handy.

  • Bumping up again. If I get no response this time, then its perhaps not as bad as I feared. Or maybe where these leaflets are being dropped are in the real low level areas where the most vulnerable people are, who wouldn't find their way here for advice.

    Cheers all, handy.

Just a thought Handy, you presumably know the area, which means you know where the vulnerable people live eh. Nip into a pub for a swift half and ask the barman if he knows anyone doing loans locally, coz you're interested in one. Worst that can happen is the barman says no, if you're lucky he might say a bit more than that.
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

Hi Hannah, unfortunately Handy is back down Sarf Now. I will be back up in a few days. If you keep an eye on NTN you will realise why.

If you wonder why I have an Alleged Interest in this 1. I don't like Alleged Loan Sharks. 2. The Lady he allegedly used to hit is very closely related. So you could say I have an Alleged insider informing me of what is happening. I have to be careful of the questions I ask so I don't show my hand to soon.

If anyone out there knows how I can find out if an individual is named on or holds a credit licence could they give me some pointers.

    Thanks to all, handy.:D

  • Our friend has been active again in the Parson Cross area of Sheffield.
The deal is allegedly take a £50.00 loan for a month, pay back £75.00
This chap expects 2 in 5 not to pay up. For those that do they are offered increasingly large amounts, at higher interest rates.

Be careful if you consider one of these loans.

It is alledged that this chap uses dubious methods to collect on unpaid debts.

    Handyman.
