Hi just looking for some advice. Has anyone from here gone to the grand prix and have any ideas on where to stay etc etc. Are there any package deals which go from here? Looking to be extremely complicated with all the car hire, flights, accomodation also I beleive we need passports to travel to the mainland? I am right in thinking Luton Airport is the closest to Silverstone keep getting comflicting information. Even looked at camping but it is on a first come basis no booking allowed.
I have been trying to work this out all night but no closer seems most accomodation is booked. It appears the easiest part is booking the tickets.
Any help appreciated please..

Might be worth contacting Billy Nutt in Coleraine, he does a lot of trips to the bikes http://www.nutttravel.com/default.aspx so might have a trip for F1
Yes if you are flying you will need a passport for ID, not cheap £77.50 (UK not sure about Irish) plus your photos if that is all you need it for.
Yes Luton would be the closest airportDave0 -

I just booked into a Travelodge today for £29 a night at Redditch (50 miles away) ,trying to get anything closer will cost quite a bit more !
This year i stayed at Stratford upon Avon for £29 but they are wanting double for next year .Gotta love a good bargain !0 -
Ryanair insisted on passports, but seeing they'll be gone, Flybe and BMI just need photo ID. Not sure about Easyjet or Jet2 thoughNorn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

Tell me about it we thought we found so where closwe by until it came up with £540.00 for 3 nights
Is it worth the money it looks like it going to cost in excess of £2000 between car hire, flights, tickets etc etc
Not sure whether just to stay at home and watch it on the 42". Hubby suggested buying a larger tv as it would be cheaper than going0 -
I go to the grand Prix every year and get the park & ride on the M40 have you thought about doing that? there are Travel Lodges near me (40mins from Luton airport & about 30mins from the Park & Ride) that are £60 a night for the grand prix weekend.:j:j:j:j:jI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I have been twice. Booked the flights into Luton as soon as they came on sale and yes, EASYJET ask for a passport, cost £60 return then. Booked a hire car online about the same time, cost about £60 for 3 days, parking on site was free (they charge enough at the gate) I was lucky that I have a brother 30 miles away so some where to stay was not a problem. If you go by car be warned that getting out is by far the worst part of the day, think in terms of hours.
As for places to stay, book anywhere within 50 miles of Buckingham and book early.
Enjoy the trip

£2000 is a lot if it's working out at that ! I would rather go to one abroad spending that kinda money .
I'm just back from the Belgian GP & costs were as follows for 2 people ;
tickets £700
flights £280
hotel £125
car hire £112
total of £1200'ish bar some spending money .Gotta love a good bargain !0 -
I have thought of this but never done it.
Go to the Spanish grand prix, just book your spanish holiday either side of the Grand Prix, somewhere within a couple of hours drive, hire a car and you get almost guaranteed sun and a two week holiday with a grand Prix thrown in for about the same price.
