Debt chasing letter - is it statute barred

I've received a letter today from a credit agency chasing a debt - knowing that my credit file is now clean after many years of hard work i've checked back on my old credit reports and it refers to an old debt. The details on my old credit report are:
Date Updated : 09/09/2002
Start Date : 19/06/2002
Date Satisfied : 19/08/2002
Current balance is 0 as is Default/Delinquent Balance

Am i right in thinking this debt is now statute barred and I can send them the template letter for statute barred debts?

No payments made or sent and letters acknowledging the debt since then? Send the letter.
