19 month mortgage application- any ideas to go quicker?!

I originally put in an application for a transfer of equity as I split up with my boyfriend and we agreed I could buy him out of the property. This was back in February 2009!
Since then through a combination of Barclays and Optima Legal there has been a number of errors and appalling customer service including: lost paperwork, expired and out of date documents; misspelled names and incorrect advice and information have all compounded the problem.
After sending through 4 lots of payslips; 7 lots of statements and receiving 3 valuations and 4 mortgage offers, 19 months later the mortgage application still has not gone through.
I have made an official complaint to Barclays last year with continued letters and phone calls as well as an official complaint to the FOS. I ring both Barclays and Optima Legal most days to check progress each time being told everything is on track and then a week later I find out something has expired, is incorrect, not been verified or similar and often get passed from one call handler to the next.
I have kept a long record (6 pages!) of all phone calls and progress, but ultimately I just want this to go through!!
Has anyone got any advice or ideas as to how I can get the application through?? Is there anyone else I can contact to get it pushed through - I have run out of ideas...:( Any suggestions would be appreciated..
