Opticians/ new glasses

Hello, I got 2 pairs of new glasses in August last yr and now can't see out of them!

I went to the opticians today and she said my prescription has changed, I needed new glasses and not to drive with my current ones

I don't actually wear my glasses much I prefer contact lenses so she gave me some stronger ones to drive home in til my new contacts come in.

Last years was sph -3.00 Cyl + 0.50 Axis 85 and this years was
sph -4.00 cyl +0.75 Axis 85.

Is that normal to change so much in a year?

The reason I ask is they want £65 just to put new lenses in my glasses and I'm reluctant to shell out if its gonna change again within a year!
I'm thinking I might just try to get by with the contact lenses.
Also anyone know about the free eye tests in Scotland?
I think your only supposed to have one every 2 years. Is it OK to have more provided its neccessary?

The receptionist in th eopticians today was a trainee and couldn't help much...

I'm blind in one eye, and my good eye measures -4.25 with no cyl and an axis of 80....

I don't recall mine changing much more than 0.25 within even a couple of years, but different per person, obviously.

I do know I'm cautioned continuously by my optician over wearing contact lenses frequently- they will stress the eye. Due to my blind eye, I would probably wear them maybe 3 days a month. My situations different though to yours.

If you're concerned, ask for another test to be carried out? I have eye tests every six months- again, though my situations unique to yours.

Its actually my good eye I'm taking about! The other eye doesn't get corrected as the vision is apparently so poor the brain shuts the signal off. He used some big word for that years ago but I can never remember it lol

She never mentioned over-use of contact lenses and I told her I wear them daily.

Mine changed within 0.25 for seven years then went from -2.00 to -3.00 last year then to -4.00 today.

I maybe will ask for another test. She was very thorough and took pictures of the back of my eye and everthing but said everything looked OK.
