Epilate, you can pick them up cheap on Ebay.0

i think im a bit scared to epilate as things i have read say about the itch0

Depends what I feel like and what time I have.
Most of the time I use the electrical dry-shaver which was part of the epilator I bought. If I have time, I use the hair removal creams but not on my under arms as it burns but never removed any hair at all, even if I leave it on too long. Occasionally I wax but it just ends up being so messy its around once a year and if the wax is on special offer, I just hate the residue they all leave and the oils and silicons I need to get rid of it.
I used to epliate but for me it just causes too much blood (underarms), scarring and pain (underarms again!), other methods just suit me better.
If money were no object I'd get waxes done professionally, or lazer!0 -
Sorry to hijack thread,My 13 year old daughter has not long started to get hair on her legs, under her armpits etc...... she has tried the veet creams as she didn't want to use a razor, but she doesnt get on with it very well and says it makes her armpits itchy almost burning like. The problem she has in deciding what to use for armpit hair is she has a big mole under her left armpit and she has caught it once or twice and it bled a bit .Any suggestions on what would be easiest and best method for her to remove the hair here.Sorry for the gobbldy gooch this has come out as.Paul Walker , in my dreams;)0

I use an epilator, and warm wax- buying a proper wax machine costs £120ish in total, for the pot, strips, applicator and wax.
Sounds a lot, but compared to the prices charged by a salon, it soon becomes worth it.
The only thing is to be careful using it. I had a few occasions of bruised skin until I got the hang of it. Once you've that down though, it's easy to use, easy to clean, and great results.0 -

I think I'd be tempted to have my GP remove that mole - it'll be a problem for ever, otherwise! (Because of where it is, I mean)[0 -

My 10 year old has become very aware of her leg hair to the point of being really bothered by it. I'd read somewhere that if you wax when you are young, the roots weaken a lot over time and the hair never grows a lot when you are older so it's less of a problem. I haven't tried it on her (yet!) but I think it might be the way to go. Might be sorer on the armpits though.
I agree with Bennefred, it might be worth getting the mole taken off as it will interfere with most hair removal techniques. That said, my son has one on his chin line which is a problem when he shaves. Doc told him to just keep shaving and he would eventually shave it off. :eek:Herman - MP for all!

Hi
I too have heard that if you start young then by the time you are a bit older you will have lighter hair and few.
I used veet and after a while noticed hair was thicker and the skin around it was changing to a darker colour not to mention the awful smell.
I use an epilator on arms, legs & underarms. Not going to lie it killed the first time but after that you get use to it. And you can do it as often as growth appears. It hurts more on areas that are bony.
The new epilators can be washed under the tap therefore more hygienic.0 -

Not true as far as I am aware.
I started shaving my legs when I was about 12? my leg hair is normal, quite pale and seems to grow at a normal pace. My sister when she got to about 13 decided, shaving for her wasn't something she wanted to do. And she had bigger fish to fry: she wanted her arm hair off () so in a round about way, with the help of selotape, she "waxed" it off.
I have never seen such long arm hair- it grew back- and then some more!! She leart her lesson and leaves her arm hair alone now, but its safe to say that waxing at any age does not cause fewer hairs to grow back - sorry to break the dream!0
