Hi,
Is there a web site comparing pension performance (like compare mortgage, saving etc in 3 years)
I am planning to pay some monthly month to a stakeholder pension, but not sure which one to choose.
For example, at this page:http://www.cavendishonline.co.uk/COL/Pensions.htm
there are 7 companies with different charges and different pension products. How do I know which do choose?
Many Thanks
Jerry

pensions dont make or lose money. They are just tax wrappers that contain investments. Its the investments that make or lose money. There are about 5000 funds actively marketed in the UK each investing in a range of totally different areas. At different times they will perform in different ways. Any league table of performance is purely historical and is no indication of future returns.I am planning to pay some monthly month to a stakeholder pension, but not sure which one to choose.
erm, none of them. They are all pretty poor for a professional investor or someone using an IFA. However, if you are intent on doing it yourself and dont have the investment experience to utilise the better pension products then look for the providers that havent upped the charge to include and extra 0.5% for the first 10 years and look at those offering a decent fund range (on stakeholder, that would be about 20 funds. On personal pension that would be closer to 100. On SIPP that is almost unlimited).there are 7 companies with different charges and different pension products. How do I know which do choose?
Look at the features, look at the funds, look at the options. You wont know service standards so you can ignore them but there are three on that list I wouldnt go near.
Change the way you look at this. You are about to commence a very long term investment. Look at the investment options first and then look at the wrapper that contains those investments. A difference of 0.5% a year in charges isnt going to make much of a difference over 40 years if you get the investments wrong.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Have a look at Trustnet for a start.0

The Citywire site classifies all the funds into categories and then rates them on performance
