As explained in the MSE e-letter, you pay £18 (insted of £60) and get 25 tracks per month to keep via E-Music.
Not the best for well know tracks so check first is my advice- eg they don't have Muse or Annie Lennox (!!!) but 12p a track isn't bad if you want a challenge!

Offer only available Wednesday the 8th Sept

Reviews for emusic are not that good including warnings that people think their cards have been used fradulently from signing up.
There are also reviews saying emusic does not have music from the top four music labels, but does have Sony music. Tunecheker would know presumably, being an expert in music downloads, but has not mentioned this so may be it is not true.
Groupon conspicuously left out of the email copy and Tunecheker home page adverts for this affiliate deal. It would be interesting to be on the other side of this deal and see the impact of leaving off Groupon on click thrus. Consumer protection legislation makes it illegal to disguise the identity of a trader.
Other deal websites are doing the same, leaving Groupon's name out of their copy, so it could be Groupon telling affiliates to leave its name out, or affiliates learning from watching click thrus.0 -
I signed up for the Groupon E-music offer recently and have started downloading today. I thought I'd post this warning - the music you might see as 'available' whilst browsing (but not logged on as a member) may not be what is available to you once you are signed up. For example, I checked to see if the Boz Scaggs album 'Silk Degrees' was available and sure enough it was there, with all the samples to play from it. But now that I signed up and logged onto my account, none of it is available - the message saying that as I'm UK resident I cannot access these tracks! I think that this is pretty sharp practise as it looks as if it's there before you gain membership!
It's too late now, for this offer, but I thought I'd post a warning for anyone considering using E-music in the future - what you see as a non-member may not be what you get once you're signed up!
PS Does anybody know whether under the Groupon offer, your payment card details are passed to E-music? (I've heard that some people have had problems with payments being taken long after membership expiry)0 -
I have had issues with emusic before- I also was able to get them sorted out via calling a UK based office and emailing them, it was a hassel but it did get resolved. I reported here about it when it happened 2 years ago. The fact they resolved it and did refund me gave me confidence.
I have the voucher, it seems to be working fine for me. I have chosen and downloaded things and transfered them to my MP3 fine, no issues. I felt this was worth the chance as I am desperate for some new music and cannot afford to pay for individual tracks or continue my Napster account (£15 a month, lose all music when you stop the account). Sorry it didn't work out for you, just wanted to say that it was fine for me. Only issue is that the new music in the charts isn't there so its harder to find things I want but managing to find new music.0 -
Hello people,
I signed up for the Groupon deal, but can't work out how to redeem it.
The 'activation email' from Groupon just says "go to partner website and start shopping, enter your code at the checkout".... but eMusic seems to want me to sign up for an emusic account, choose one of their plans, AND give them my credit card info.
I don't want to have to ALSO pay for, say, the £9.99 plan. I just want the 150 mp3s for £18 offer.
Can anyone help me? What am I missing..
Thanks!0 -
Ah, solved it.
In case anyone else was missing it, go to emusic.com/groupon to set up a profile and redeem your code.
Strange that those instructions weren't in the emails I received from groupon.0 -
Just to add: don't forget Quico!0

By using the cashback deal I've just got 73 tracks for £5.99. Unfortunately, I missed the Groupon deal but I reckon this still works out okay (8p a track(ish)). I took out the trial subscription (25 tracks) then added the £9.99 deal for a further 24 tracks. Having downloaded the 49 tracks I wanted I then went to cancel my subscription and got offered another 24 tracks free starting from October the 10th. Not a bad deal, I reckon. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button
