Started out debt free journey!

Hi everyone,

Following my post at the end of last month I've started putting everything into practice. Started my spending diary and been writing down religiously everything that we spend (even buying my son a 39p sweet for staying dry at night for the past week! which also means less nappies to buy each month!!).

I also paid all of my planned payments to credit cards on payday first thing before nay other money was spent - usually I'd do it as and when I felt we had the money available often resulting in missed payments but there's going to be no more of that! I've had a couple of unexpected payments too with the credit cards where I thought the payment was one amount so paid it only to receive the statement a couple of days later and needed to pay more but I've done this so everything is up to date!

I've also had a bit of luck this month, realised that our contents/kit insurance is over 10 months not 12 and we've paid 10 months so the next payment isn't until November so I've been able to use that 'spare' money to make the additional payments to our credit cards. Also sold some books on Amazon for £19 so that will be going on the credit cards as soon as it gets paid (tomorrow I think).

The only thing that doesn't seem to be going at planned is the grocery budget, only got £17 left for the rest of the month but hopefully because we're being careful with what else we're spending our money on we'll have spare to cover the rest of the month and be able to readjust the budget next month. I've also changed supermakets from Mr A to Mr T so I can collect clubcard points and judging from their clubcard calculator just doing our normal food shopping and diesel from there we should collect enough points in the next year to buy merlin annual passes for all of us so that should save us money in the following year for days out etc.

We've also had our new address and move confirmed so will be receiving our disturbance allowance at the end of the month and once we've paid the cleaner and final gas and electric bills will be able to whack that onto the credit cards too!

Oh and I've discovered the joy of cashback sites whilst looking for new telephone/broadband/tv providers so should be some extra for the credit cards there too!

Not really much point in my post but just wanted to tell someone that for once something to do with money actually seems to be going to plan!!:j
