Loans: Mature Students
Hi,
September next year I want to go to Uni, but am aware that I shall be classified as a mature student.
I was wondering if it's possible to get some loan advice aimed at mature students to fund this (rather than the wishy-washy advice on the Directgov site.)
A little information about my situation:
Currently I have a full time permanent job, but it has little room for development nor do I find it fulfilling. (therefore the desire to study)
I will be aged 27 by September.
I live on my own and have no dependants.
In the 5 years I have been working I have little in the way of any savings.
And I wish to study Animation.

Hi
2 things really
Apply as soon as you can for that year, and 2 student finance dont know their bottom from their face.
Im a mature student, starting in 2 wks, I was a late applier. You fill in form on line, then you will need to send in a load of evidence lol, that they may or may not say they recive, and they may or may not tell you you need. They didnt tell me they needed id from me lol.
I have received details now of my maintance and tuition loans, so better then my sister who is still waiting for her loan from last year.
Other bits you can apply for other loans from them depending on you situtation.
There is an adult dependent grant to help replace some of the money you will lose by being not in work.
An adult learning grant (think thats what it is called) and a child care grant. If you are disabled there is also a disabled student grant.
I would once applied ring them monthly to check where things are, If they say they need eveidence and you have sent it, get them to check, they told me they needed my daughters birth certificate (for childcare grant) I had sent it asked them to check 10 mins of being on hold, and oh they have it already aghhhh
