has ANYBODY ever gone to court? (re: bank charges)

I've been given a date for a preliminary hearing at the county court... has anybody ever been to one of these ? I'm claiming almost £1500 back in unfair charges from Barclays.
I'm not entirely sure if this is the real thing - it says it will only last 15 minutes, so I have a feeling they will book a 'proper' date sometime in the future (hopefully soon if they do!). But I don't know if the bank are going to this hearing, if they don't turn up I hope I win by default
I just don't know. I'd love it if I didn't have to go in the end!
I just get the feeling that I WILL end up going to court for this hearing. But if nobody has ever gone before, maybe i won't.
This hearing is in 2 weeks:eek: I'm hoping that the bank will pay up before this... do the banks normally credit your account, or do they send a cheque?
Also, since I have started on MCOL I have been charged a further £200! When they havecoughed up for the first £1500, should I start all over again with the letters for the remaining £200? Or do you think I should write one letter explaining that I have no problems with sending them to court again if they don't send the money right away...
I just need a little more reassurance .. i'd like to know that nobody has ever lost a case or perhaps never gone to court.
Thanks!

My case is being transferred to the Mercantile Court :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Maybe I'm being extra blonde... but what's the difference between a county court and a Mercantile Court?£2 Savers club started 30/09/06.... £I raided it

The outcome.
Mercantile Court is where businesses stand trial. So if I win, fine I get my cash back. I lose I pay the banks costs (or i go bankrupt there is FA chance I can pay them) and the charges are lawful, no one else wins charges back and its game over. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Reading most of the threads on this subject, and just in process of starting to claim myself, it would appear that the banks, generally, take it right to the 11th hour and seem to back out at the very last minute. This could be that the outcome of a (First/) court case could set a precedent for any future claims.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Broken Hearted - You're so lucky you got it paid after 2 letters.. I think Barclays must be the worst. My second letter was sent in July! Ahh well. Fingers crossed i'll get the money by the end of next week tops!
Lynz - good luck with that - soounds scary, but I'm sure the bank wont win! No one has lost against the banks so far...
I've posted on consumer action group, but i think I smell. I don't get many/ if any replies to my posts! Unless no1 goes in the barclays forum!
Thanks guys and girls!

ONly because the banks dont turn up, they cant get away with not showing at Merc, from what I know of it. Well Im hoping that they fold and give me the cash beforehand, but im cra**ing it!!
Anyway good luck to all. But do bear in mind you are suing your bank and it cn get not only scary, but financially pretty risky. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
