I paid off my debt, but they didn't update my credit file

I paid off a big 2000 debt for Halifax, it was a final settlement agreement and I paid it in July. However I just got my credit report through from Equifax and it says that I still owe it and the dfault is still active (not partially settled).

I rund Blair Oliver and Scott (Halifax's debt collectors) and I asked them why they had not updated my credit file and they just said 'oh sorry we'll do it now'.

That's pretty bad right? I had to tell them to update it? They told me when I paid that they would do it there and then.

Typical behaviour from these pond life....
Once they have payment, they couldnt care less - thats the simple truth.
  • Keep an eye on it and if its not removed in a month make a complaint to their compliance offer, OFT and Trading Standards.

People have received compensation for companies not updating this information in a timely fashion so remind them of this.... ;)

Ha that is good to know, thanks. It annoys me that I had to take out a credit report to get it sorted, what if I hadn't credit checked myself for years?

Well they said they would get it sorted today so I'll creditcheck myself again next week and see what the update is.
