Never find anything in willenhall there red hot there, never found a thing. The dtd vouchers are checked, double checked then checked by supervisers. Only go there if passing with work as i drive across all walsall ect.0 -
Even though I've cleared the shelves and nothing was left, whilst getting the meal deals last night I got 4 of the Sauted potatoes with bacon. Thanks OP.I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.
Updated 14/10/14 :A0 -
Where do you find the saut!ed potatoes. I have looked in every aisle!!
By the way, I have a theory I'd like us all to check...
Looking at the fab, illustrated pennyitems doc, I have noticed that the 2 princes items are in the same packaging (light and dark blue). Whilst searching for them, I have noticed that princes are still doing these items but have updated the packaging on them so the new ones are not 1p. My point is, I bet there are loads of other 1p princes items if you just look for the old packaging!

Look at the pics of the princes items to see what I mean!:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

Got one single 1p item last night - the Red Lion Chiken tikka Masala.
It was hidden among the tins of Irish stew and Bolagnese sauce (full price at a whopping £1.99.)
There was also Beef Madras but it scanned at 49p which was still a good price but not as good as 1p!
I also found some bargain price jars of pasta sauce.
Trattoria Verdi Tomato and herb - 20p.
Other varieties were still full price.
Looks quite nice but I havent tried it yet.
With the 2kg packs of Tesco spaghetti at half price that should make a few cheap meals!0 -
Just read this post off aramint on another thread:
Hi all,
I know it may frustrate some as to why one Tesco has loads of 1p and another none....... the reason for this is just how Tesco as a company deals with the end of seasonal stock.
After the final reductions to customers (75% off) it reduces to 1p to clear the stock without afftecting the stores shrinkage (unknown loss). So its just a financial mechanism.
The stores can do what they like with the leftover stock depending on each individual store manager it may be donated, sold to staff or even destroyed.
It should never stricly speaking be sold to a customer however as you all know it may slip through! The stores with inexperienced managers tend to be where you'll find the 1p items as they may not as organised:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

I think perhaps this poster doesn't know quite as much about this as he/she claims to, though suspect the overall jist is thereaboutsjumblejack wrote: »After the final reductions to customers (75% off) it reduces to 1p to clear the stock without afftecting the stores shrinkage (unknown loss).
Unknown loss is indeed a retail term, but relates to - unsurprisingly - unknown loss - ie theft, stock record errors etc
Shrinkage is deemed the 'known' loss - ie it's known that the value of the stock is being written offjumblejack wrote: »The stores can do what they like with the leftover stock depending on each individual store manager it may be donated, sold to staff or even destroyed.
not quite - I suspect you will struggle to find a major (or even minor!) retailer that allows its staff to buy stock that would otherwise be thrown away at a discounted rate - it's often regarded serious enough to be classed as gross misconduct (and therefore sackable). Many reasons for this, but essentially involves staff intentionally allowing goods to go beyond their use, in the knowledge it will be reduced. If it's on offer to customers and staff buy it as a customer, that's a different story. :j0 -
Morning All
So pleased I found this thread.
Just a few questions if you don't mind.......
In our big Tesco Extra I have never seen any scanners, except the ones at the self checkouts, where would they be located?
If I get a few items and scan them at the self check out and they are more than I thought can I reject them?
Think I will have to go when its quiet and have a good rummage, would be too embarrased beeping items and rejecting them with a huge queue forming behind me!
My son wants to come with me, its going to be our challenge to see how many we can find. My closest store is Serpentine Green at Hampton, Peterborough, if anyone has tried it let me know.
Good hunting, will let you know how successful me and DS are!

They don't put them in very often any more - just have a wonder - have a look behind pillars etcPixie_Fairydust wrote: »If I get a few items and scan them at the self check out and they are more than I thought can I reject them?Pixie_Fairydust wrote: »My son wants to come with me, its going to be our challenge to see how many we can find.0 -
Thanks for the reply.
We live a 2 minute drive from Tesco's so am in there quite alot, my son just thought it would be cool to get some shopping for 1p, but take on board about probably not finding anything!
Have got to go in today, so will have a quick look and will look for some scanners too, might ask if they have any.
Will let you know how I get on.
Thanks, Pixie🎄The most wonderful time of the year 🎄0
