Build a bear alternative

I was thinking that my dd would love one of the bears with clothes etc that you get at the build a bear workshops but I have just looked at the prices and they are really expensive. Does anyone know of any similar bears you can buy with clothes and accessories that are cheaper? Thanks.

I had always wanted these but felt they were to expensive until I relised if you just buy the bear its £11.99 and then paid for that and then I went to charity shops and Primark tescos asda etc and brought the clothes from their so instead of costing nearly £40 for everything it only cost me £11.99 hope this helps or you can buy a bear for £5 from most card shops and buy clothes from primark lol

the whole point of build a bear, is that you get to be involved with the choosing and filling of a bear, plus the whole process of naming the bear, and issuing its birth certificate - its not just about a teddy with clothes

the cheapest bear is £8, which i think is fairly comparable to just buying a pre-stuffed one in a normal toy store

but, yes the clothing is a big rip-off. so for clothing and the such you are better off buying it 2nd-hand on ebay - however, there is the odd item instore that isnt too expensive, ie they have tops from £4, knickers for £2 and skirts for about £5

i dont know of any other clothing that fits the bears properly, as they have overly short legs/arms, and tails or ears, that have to be accommodated in the clothing. as a fall back, we have used preemie baby clothing, but with rolled up sleeves and legs. it does the job, but doesnt look as nice, as the made to measure stuff

these arent toys that i would buy on a regular basis, i think they are more aimed at being a treat, so somewhere you would take a child for a birthday or special occasion
