They can't touch you so don't even worry about it. It sounds like you're pretty far in so what's going to happen is going to happen. The ones not in your name you can ignore, they're not you. The ones in your name you would need to make token monthly payments of say £1 to, a court will never over rule that if you simply don't have the money.

Have a look over on this site; http://www.debtquestions.co.uk/debt_forum/

You've nothing to be frightened of, really!! Companies don't break legs and debtors prisons were wrapped up years ago. All they have now is the legal process. And seeing as that's ALL they have, there's nothing left other than to make empty threats and take advantage of people's ignorance.

Don't do it again though! :)

I am not judging the OP here at all, but this advice is not right. I don't want to frighten them either but while it is true that the companies only have the legal process to recover their money, they have both the civil and criminal processes at their disposal. There has clearly been at the very least a deception here and if the OP attempts to follow the advice and tries to avoid paying the debts not in their name, these companies may very well report the matter to the police. So while there may not be debtors prison, the extent of the deceit and advantage gained here may well have the same result.

Please go and get from proper advice from the CAB or a solicitor about how to handle this so that you don't give anyone reason to to delve any deeper into your applications for credit.

I have to agree - the debts you incurred in other names - you should also address when looking at paying your debts. It isn't worth the sleepless nights worrying about being charged by the police for fraud and deception.

Seek professional help from the above named organizations and you will start feeling better immediately.

    Good luck xx

Well why don't you phone up the Police and post the OP's username on the FBI site if you feel so strongly about.

Oooooh Mrs Miggins, isn't it terrrrible. Shock horror.

I've told them what they CAN do. Not what morally they SHOULD do. That's your job!

But your advice is wrong! You've said the person can't be touched so not to worry about debts not in their actual name. But they can be touched because it's blatantly fraud, and it sounds like a fairly serious situation. I'd get some CAB/solicitors advice on this one....

Why are you so for them breaking the law. They have problems which need to be adressed. Your advice is dangerous however well meant it was.

    Lets ignore the inflamatory comments!

To the OP - it sounds as though you really aren't well. I would definitely suggest that the CAB would be a good place to go for some advice and guidance. Are you in regular contact with your doctor, too, because evidence about your health might be relevant to whatever action the banks etc can take.

but you said 'the ones not in your name don't count - they're not you'

but they are the OP!! obtained fraudulently!! Are you saying the way to get out of debts is just to open them in another name so you don't have to pay them back???

    Hi frosticles, how are you?
Just checking in to see how you are feeling today. Please keep posting as to how you are doing and I would definitely follow the advice above to see CAB as they are best placed to advise you correctly on your situation.
There is a lot of support here from other users and you can allways press the ignore button for those who stray away from the subject in hand.

Hi frosty, what you have done is terribly wrong however we cant change the past so we need to look at ways to remedy the situation.

At the time of your depression did you get any sort of doctors records/note, to indicate that you were under stress levels that caused you to act in levels which could be classed as, how can i put this, not under 100% control of your actions/insanity/someone help me out here.

Quite clearly (judging by your post) your actions werent the ones of someone who was acting in there own best interests.

Then again can you retrieve all the items, send them back and work out some way to repay all the damage you have done?

I don't think this sort of attitude helps anyone. The OP wants advice and it's important that the advice given is correct, it has got nothing to do with moralising. If there is a possibility that they could be prosecuted then don't you think it's better that they can prepare for it now rather than be encouraged to stick their head in the sand? I know what I would prefer.
