Final settlement of debt - How to pay?

Hi there,

I have a number of debts which I am repaying via a DMP through CCCS. I am negotiating final settlements with my creditors and have received acceptable offers so intend to pay asap. My question is if it makes any difference to pay these via a debit card over the phone or if it is better to pay by cheque, either from myself or a third party (ie my partner)?

Make sure you have everything in writing from them that it is full and final settlement and releases you from all liability to the debt. I would be inclined to pay by cheque but probably because I am rather paranoid and some of the dcas I have to deal with I would never give my card details to!! If you are happy you have the correct wording in writing and with the amount agreed then don't really need to do it via a third party though.

You have been given some good advice about this on your other thread.
