On the other hand, the bubble in white van prices is about to UTTERLY COLLAPSE

They've already dropped massively in price Round My Way.

Do the contracts to provide services have a value? Can they be sold on or do they lapse when the company goes bust and the HAs concerned do a new tendering process.

    No idea.

There will be some profitable contracts in there but probably not the best time to be a bigger supplier to government or quasi governmental bodies (which is what HA's really are) at the moment.

Even so, one worker per dwelling sounds rediculous. Why not just supply each tenant with a private handyman who doubles as a butler when no maintenance needs doing.

Where on earth do you get 1 employee per dwelling that they look after ?

    It is patently absurd.

To give you an idea how big many of the housing associations are, in Liverpool alone there are over 60,000 HA properties.

Some HA's look after 20,000 properties or more.

Shush woman ... go read the magazine he mentioned :)
  • whatever - they have something to with public sector, and therefore, they deserve to fail.

btw - i define any private company whose only client (or major client) is the Govt as public sector.

as with anything, there are some exceptions to the rule. the HA flats near me, have maybe, 30 flats. I only hear noise from a few, but I like to tar them all with the same brush. makes life easier.

that said, i feel more aggreived, seeing some woman coming back from work - looking tanned (as she has been on a holiday) and then getting into her new convertable for an evening out with friends that she can only afford due to the subsidised rent she pays. if she can afford to live like that, she should be in the private rental market. makes me sick.

The contracts will be cancelled as a result of going into admin. As the company effectively ceases trading, they are unable to keep their side, therefore the contract expires.

The HA's will put new contracts out for tender. Alternative companies (like connaughts) will bid for the contracts.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

As director of a firm in direct competition with Connaught for some of those contracts, I look forward to picking over their bones.
