  • Obviously prices are falling. Buying an average priced house on an 85% mortgage not only costs more than renting the same house but you will be losing over a grand a month as the value falls wiping out your saved deposit in about 2 years.
  • Surely anyone can find examples of people dropping the price of their house at any time? Even in a rising market I imagine people would chance it with a huge asking price, only to have to drop it a bit. Not sure what a few examples of falling house prices proves? Probably not a lot.

I'd use official published figures which average out the whole UK. Makes more sense.

Individual examples of house price reductions show that some people have to sell. It also sets the new price for the type of house in the same area for valuation purposes.
