Its not ignorant atall! Yes its a course to learn about the roles of a social worker. I guess working in an old peoples home would show that you have a strong desire to help people, but its not going to be the relevant experience for what I want to do. I want the more psychological side of things. Hmm but I like what youre suggesting there southernscouser. I'm gonna go look on jobcentrepus and see what is about. Thanks for that!

Yeah, you are entitled if you are at college for less than 16 hours per week. I thought the same at first, but I checked it out with them and they said its cool.

Education Maintenance Allowance. Was being phased in while I was at college (but I didn't get it! :mad: ) Supposed to cover travel to and from college. Is about £30 a week or so.

You could try for a placement within the local Authority or even a charity. If you can do admin then you could work for a charity and earn money, and gain valuable experience. My uncle retired and starting working for a carers organisation part time and is now earning £8 an hour and helping people out at the same time

Have a look on the benefits board and the student boards. You might be able to pick up advice and tips there aswell!
