Urgent Advice needed please

Last month (13th to be exact) phoned and made payment to DCA, he then asked me if that was the card that payments should be taken from and I specifically told him no as payment will be made from a different account. Well today have checked bank and they have taken out a total of £100 one £50 and 2x £25 payments.

As I specifically told them not to take any more payments from this card is this theft? if so can I threaten them with the police? I now it sounds drastic but they have put us in the you know what now.

Any advice?

never ever giove card details to a DCA. Speak to your bank urgently and try to cancel the card and if necessary close the account.

    Hi there
This is my first post and was just looking for any advice re Debt Management Scheme (DAS) which is different from a DMP.

Can anyone recommend this? I currently have around 20K unsecured debt. I was looking at a DMP with payplan but believe there is no guarantee they can stop interest. My understanding is with a DAS this happens and my property cannot be touched.

I have been to CAB today and have an appt in a week or so but just wondered if anyone could share their experiences. I am looking to pay off my debts asap (obviously!) but am very worried that my property is at risk.

    Any advice appreciated.
    J:)

Well it just gets worse, after checking the bank today they have taken out in total £480.00 :mad::eek::mad:.

I spoke to one of their customer services reps last night who has agreed that a refund should be done but it would take 14 days, I politely ;) told him absolutley no way, to which after speaking to his 'manager' they will be arranging a CHAPS payment today, watch this space.

I have already sent an email of complaint to the OFT as I really feel I can't let these people get away with treating people like this. I appreciate I'm the one with a financial problem but what gives these people the right to just help themselves to our money willy nilly. I'm so b***y angry that I might even contact Dom Littlewood. Its about time someone stood up for the people truely trying to fight their way out of debt. I will not be a victim to these sharks any longer.

Well because its actually a joint account, they will no longer issue a refund for the full amount, but will issue £150 (god knows how long that will take).

So now need to go home tonight and tell HH that because of this we're over our overdraft limit and we have nothing to pay the DD & SO orders that are due out within the next day or two.

Aparently they can do this because I never phoned them on the 31st Aug to make a payment, dispite the fact that we got an automated call from Abbey saying they were trying to take the money and did we authorise it, wish we had said no at that point, argh . She told me that had texted me to let me know that they would be taking the ful amount out as I was in breach, although when I explained to her that I don't have a mobile and the only number they had was my work number, given to her collegue on the 13th Aug, she still said tough.

God I am so b***** fuming and have no idea what to do now except have a bloody good cry, which I just have :(:(. Talk about kicking you when y our down.

Bunch of crooks, hope you get your money back.

Never ever give these vultures your card details, they will bleed you like a pig, real slow.

  • I'm so sorry it's so tough. I feel the same about banks though. If you are already at the limit of your overdraft, fining you £25 for the 'priviledge' of using the over overdraft facility accidentally when you're OBVIOUSLY already struggling is akin to taking food off a starving man's plate. I resent that they can get away with it!

    Just an update after yesterday.

After going home and speaking to HH about the above mess we decided to tell them to shove the refund of £150 because by the time we get it back in our bank it would all be paid back out in charges, so this way its another debt paid and we'll deal with the charges when they happen.

Why dont you have a chat with your bank explain the situation and see if they will be able to wave the charges this time due to unforeseen circumstances. You never know you might speak to somebody nice who has a heart.

If you can cancel any direct debits now so that no charges will be applied to the account and call the people who were due to receive the money and explain the situation and if they will accept payment at a later date.
