Cannot get credit...
I am seriously puzzled, to the point where I think there must be a problem, I have applied for a 2/3 things over the last few months one was a loan to consolidate debt, the other was a credit card and more recently I need to obtain a lease car for work purposes due to a change of job recently.
All of which have been declined, I have checked experian, equifax paid for £2 reports, paid for the credit score. Every one of these has come back excellent, either 999 credit score, no missed payments for 4+ years, no CCJ's not a single bit of bad credit. I am also on the electoral roll.
I have a reasonable income of around 35k a year, a few debts of around 6k but nothing major.
Can anyone give me some advice as to whether there may be some sort of underlying problem...?
Many thanks

Having just changed jobs may be a problem. However I also think that the lenders are just not lending to that many people at the moment. I have had similar problems to you recently as I have applied for around 3, been declined on all which has just made my file even worse. 5 years ago I would have got the credit no problem with same circumstances.0

I haven't just started, I will be starting at the end of the month, the most important one is the car as it is essential for my new job.
The affordability isn't a problem as the new company are giving me a car allowance that more than covers the car that I have applied for.
Really frustrating to say the least! Thanks for your help0 -
Yes but your new salary/car allowance will not give you affordability because it is what you earn now and in last 3 months that will be taken into account.0

what is your total debt level?
and what salary did you quote on the credit applications
do you use your OD regularly
are you financially linked with anyone0 -

I quoted £30k I think which is what shows on my P60.
Currently owe around £6500 or thereabouts on credit cards, £500 overdraft and for my sins it is used regularly pretty much as my own money if that makes sense.
I am married and do have a joint account with my wife to cover our bills, rent etc. She does have some debt, a bit over what I have, she has missed a few payments but nothing serious.0 -
missed payments + consilidation loan - there's your answerDebt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
you may need to go to one of the more 'flexible' lenders like black horse. if you can provide proof that car allowance will be part of your contract, that will help your cause with most lenders
speak to someone on the phone, online applications are just declining people. a real person may take other factors into consideration...maybe0
