I bought two gifts on Saturday to the value of £275 and asked whether I could have a discount and the manager said no. I bought them early as it was for my daughter's birthday and it is not until the 20th October. Today whilst browsing the rpoints forums, I have found ernest jones is now online and I could have saved at least £18. I am gutted, I supposed I do have the option of returning the goods and buy again online but it will be quite embarassing. I wonder whether I could try to phone the shop and asked again for a discount. Any ideas? Thanks

I wouldn't be embarrased doing that...£20 is better in your pocket than theirs. How about emailing/phoning Head Office Customer service and explaining what happened to them? Worth a try.

While making a purchase at lastminute I was invited to join a website called https://www.highstreetmax.com. I joined up as I noticed a discount of 10% at Ernest Jones. As planning to buy wedding rings to value of £750 approx this is a great saving. Catch is you have to sign up, approx £15 per month for membership, but first 30 days are free and cost nothing if you cancel in that time. Only other snag is you have to ring an 0845 number to get the voucher, and we know rightly how Martin feels about 0845 nos.

Ernest Jones used to have a 30 day moneyback guarantee, I returned something last year as my neice didnt like it and got my money back with no problems. I would just take them back and say they werent suitable.
