Hmmm. Doesn't really explain the IR's stance on this. It's not that I/we want to pay Class 3 - it's more that the IR says we HAVE to pay Class 3 if we're a self-employed resident in another country.
I'd rather pay £2.20 per week than £7.55!0 -

This used to be the case, but class 2 is now allowed for full time employees abroad as well as self employed.I do not have a job here in Spain
Those unemployed have to pay class 3 ( I know this seems silly, those with no earnings have to pay the higher rate, but that's the Govt for you :huh: )
Check with Newcastle.Different sections of the IR/NI/DWP establishement are not always up with changes in the rules.Trying to keep it simple...0 -

Just called the Centre for Non-Residents at Newcastle and they've confirmed that self-employed working abroad CAN pay Class 2 - Happy Days - Let's hope the paper goes through where those that have been paying for 30+ years no longer have to pay anything - Happier Days :rotfl:
