SAR Request Barclays

I have just received information from my SAR Request from Barclays.
I have two termination notices within the information with different dates but no default notice. Is a termination notice a default notice? If not, what options do I have next?

Thanks in advance!

As far as i am aware a defaullt notice must state that it is a default notice for it to be valid, see example here - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=30208835&postcount=49

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
  • Thanks for that.
What I received was a Termination Notice with accordance with Sections 76(1) and 98(1) of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

I can't find anything that says 'Default Notice', this should of been sent under an SAR shouldn't it?

Ask never-in-doubt if he has come across it before, here is his forum - http://forums.all-about-debt.co.uk/index.php

I believe a termination is for closing the account, and a default notice is what is applied on your credit file. Generally you probably get hit with them both at the same time.

  • Thanks for that. Looking at the link it says that the Default Notice is before the Termination Notice which then makes me think why I have had two. One on the 25/10/2005 and another on the 23/02/2007. My default date is 23/02/2007
  • Does anyone have a letter or link that says to the debter that because they haven't produced a default notice to remove it?

Im sure your termination notice should have stated default notice, your dates do match so it sounds reasonable that is what they are meant to be.

I think this is the letter you want - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=33792153&postcount=25

  • Cheers for that. I sent that letter about 3 times to Barclays before sending off for an SAR. When I did get a response it said that the loan details did not match, when clearly it was a bank account!
