Getting a CCJ removed, advice needed.

I know this has been asked before, but I'm looking for advice specific to me as I need to get this resolved ASAP. I was issued a CCJ by Northampton court in the middle of my bankruptcy because of a debt owed to Northumbria water which was included in my BR.
I only just found out about this, they didn't even bother telling me. This is a problem because I've just got a really good new job after a year of unemployment and I'm due to start next week but the CCJ has been brought up as an issue in the screening process so I'm worried that I might end up losing the offer. I've contacted my OR and I'm waiting to hear back from him, and I just contacted that court that issued the judgement.
They said I can either write the the water company and get them to pay a fee to have it removed, which she said was the quickest option. I don't really understand that because I thought they'd be really awkward about it, especially if it's going to cost them money. Or I can fill in some forms and have to pay a fee to get it removed.
I'm wondering what my best option is? Are these really my only 2 options? Anyone can clearly see that I shouldn't have been issued it because of the date they gave me it, so I don't understand why they can't just take it off. I really need to get it sorted ASAP.
