6 month old baby has turned the lightbulb well and truly ON !!!!

Having recently became first time parents and in the process of moving home and while reading this forum for mortgage advice... someone switched the light bulb on... Infact, it was our 6 month old bundle of joy.
Having a child has really spurred me as I do not want our children to grow up with mummy and daddy in lots of debt, scraping by, meeting minimum payments and thinking thats the way to live. There is more to life than that and once the debts are cleared, we will ALL have a better life (And savings).
Im under no illusions it will be a walk in the park and I understand the next 7 years (Hopefully sooner) will not be easy as it will mean serious budgeting like weve never done before... but for the sake of our kids (and ourselves), it WILL be worth it.
Current Debt = £15,000 - Nearly ALL Credit Cards
Will post the SOA in the next 24 hours.
A big thank you to Martin and Tony H for the budgeting spreadsheet.
To whoever pays to keep maintain and keep this forum alive, thank you
Does whoever pays to maintain the site have a preferred charity I could make a donation to as a thank you?

Martin does have charities which this site donates to... there's info here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/aboout.phtml#fundDon't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. Well done for making a start - I think that was the hardest part for us - adding it all up and wondering where on earth all the money had gone.
Exactly the same thing happened to me (baby & lightbulb moment), and I'm really glad about it even though it feels like hard going sometimes.
Good luck with the house move - hope all goes smoothly.
P.S. Have you joined the Boots Parenting Club? The extra points have been saving me loads.Working hard to be debt free so that I can reduce my full time working hours and spend some time with my 1 year old son. :kisses3:0 -
Good luck! And congratulations on your baby. I know exactly how you feel as I'm expecting my first baby in 4 months time and don't want to bring it up in my debt-ridden household for the rest of its life.Debt at highest May 2006: £27,472.24
