Has anyone made their own stickers for handmade gifts?

I just wondered if anyone had an advice re: making stickers for items. I want them to stick on to cello bags that I will put items in and as each will be slightly different it seems silly to buy off someone else as they sell them in bulk usually.

I do have adobe photoshop so I can put the stickers design together no problem, I guess my question really is... is it possible to buy 'sticker' paper and can it just go through a standard printer? or is there another way of doing it?

Avery make lots of sticker packs in all types of sizes for making your own stickers. They can be expensive though. These are available at regular stationery shops like Rymans and WHSmiths. They have a free online printing facility to go with their sticker packs here.

I was lucky enought to find 1 box of 100 plain A4 sticker sheets for inkjet printers in my local pound shop a while back.

Avery usually have a free offer of a sample pack of labels....well worth getting to have a 'play' with!

I printed off a load of Avery labels for my homemade jam & chutney this weekend. They look great! I would recommend printing a practice sheet on normal paper before putting the sticker sheet in, just to make sure everything works & lines up OK.
I'm just off to see if Avery do circular stickers now.

thanks everyone for your help . Going to to see if I can find the Avery sample pack to have a go. I deally wanted to use my own designs rather than using premade templates, if it possible to impot and image and put that onto the stickers using hte Avery software?

Yes it is...and its very easy to do!!!

Just save any images you want to use on your harddrive and then you import them into the Avery prog where you can re-size, if necessary, and add whatever text you wish.

Hiya,

The other option is to print them on normal paper & put them through a sticker machine like WHSmiths sell (a kids one but still does the job @ £2.99!) or you can get the more professional Xyron machines from Tesco & other art and craft shops. You can buy refills for both.

To my knowledge with both these you feed in your cut out design and the machine sandwiches it between a backing paper roll and a sticky cellotape like roll and it comes out the other end as a sticker. The WHSmiths version has a mini trimmer blade on the end you can cut straight across with which would give your sticker a square clear sticky area when peeled off, or you can cut around the shape with a small border after 'sandwiching' to get a similar shape you had before. HTH

If you have MS Word on your PC/Laptop, they also have all the avery label templates set up, so you can add your own image and design your own labels. I have some of the small Avery labels that I print off for card orders!
