I wanna know about pyrolitic ovens?

Hi
I've just bought a Miele pyrolitic oven, but when I look inside it just looks like normal enamel
I was expecting rough surfaces to catch the spills. Mine wont be fitted for a few weeks but I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them and are they any good.
It was quite a bit more expensive than the normal ovens so I expected a really jazzy interior!

Pyrolitic ovens clean by putting the temperature up to a very high heat to burn off any spilt food. I wouldn't have thought that it would be at all desirable to have a rough surface in any oven, as food would be more likely to stick and would be more difficult to get off, even if it had been burned to ash.0

The oven I have now has catalytic walls which are coated with a very rough surface that I believe is to stop spills sliding down. I just thought pyrolytic would be on the same type of thing. Its just a normal shiney interior. I bought the oven exdisplay when I bought my kitchen and I half wondered whether I had got the wrong model!0

I had a pyrolitic oven at my house in the USA, it's amazing, when it needs cleaning you whack it on to self clean and it goes to something like 900 (farenheit, that is) for about 3 hours. When it's cool enough to let you open the door you just wipe up any ash and the oven is spotless. I'm looking for one now as changing the kitchen if anyone knows of any deals? There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0

I have a De Dietrich double oven with both ovens being pyrolitic. The insides are both very smooth as you described. So I would say you have the right oven. When putting it on the pyro self clean it takes about 2 hours and what is left inside is a fine white coating. You just wipe this off with a slightly damp cloth and thats that. Do remember though you cannot leave your shelves in there or anything else as they will be ruined.
Mine is now two years old and I am a very happy bunny. It is also my second De Dietrich oven with the first one lasting 18 years and still working but I had a new kitchen so naturally I had all new appliances;) . I've had a Miele w/m and a t/dryer for five years now & a Miele hoover for four and I can't fault them one little bit. Excellent make, although as you say they are expensive but well worth it IMO. :j :j0
