Problem with last day of double up deals

Hi all,
Dont know if anyone has had this problem or know where we stand?? went to tesco today to take advantage of the last day for the double up deal, was buying toys baby things and household. Anyway I was told the computers had crashed (apparently did the same yesterday) they had already been down for an hour and they said they had no idea if they would start working again, and as it was a nationwide problem there was nothing that could be done. so along with many of other shoppers we had to abandon our trolley.
Very very disappointed, I dont see how they can get away with this as it is tesco's error, i have tried looking for the deal rules/smallprint and cannot find anything.
any advice or similar experience??

Sounds like you are just unlucky. Can not see them extending it or anything. You have had the rest of the time to double up and spend the vouchers, why leave it till the last minute? If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

My Tesco Extra made a broadcast over the tanoy at lunchtime today, didn't take much notice of it though as I didn't want to use any vouchers.
All I remember was it was being sorted.0 -
They crashed in our local store yesterday, too (SW) - I imagine the system is just overloaded at the minute with everyone rushing to get in ahead of the deadline.Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0

I've just posted about this same experience today - was the Store Tesco Coventry (at Walsgrave) by any chance?0 -

yes I was unlucky along with many many others, and I did not leave it until the last minute, I chose to go today mainly to get a new ironing board as mine feel to peices last night, and also to get some birthday presents as have had a couple of invites come through the post. I did luckily buy all christmas presents last week.
and yes 'Chandlep' it was coventry store, but they said it was all tesco stores. lots of people were getting very annoyed, i wasnt mad at the store or anything its not their fault, i just hope tesco's will do something about it as it was their problem.0 -
I didn't actually know today was the last day had just gone in to get some tea, saw some clothes for my daughter and went to change my vouchers (always have them in my purse just in case!).
The lad at the checkout said he would try to change them but they only had the system back up for half an hour and it was intermittent at best, this was at about 4:15pm. Luckily all went through ok and I got some good bargains
I feel sorry for the store staff who get the brunt of customers disappointment, yes it is part of their job but it isn't their fault head office can't get systems capable of coping with an obviously high demand."Organic!! I grew up on Angel Delight..." - Dylan Moran0 -
The system was down on Friday as well, apparently it was nationwide, there was a fair few people asking...0
