Tried to close my NEXT account!!!!!

Options
Hi

Okay so this morning i called Next and paid off my final amount!!! :j :j

I said as i was paying off the money i would like to completely CLOSE the account.

The women on the other end said (in her own words) 'Next do not close accounts(!?!?!?!?!?) We put that you dont want another catalogue or any mail shots, and if you dont use it, the account closes itself after a while'

WHAT?????

I asked her to send me a ltter to say i had closed my account, and she said that was fine.... although she said before Next dont close accounts?!?!?

Has anyone else had anything like this?

cheers xx

P.s - hope your all haveing a no-spend day.... my week started at 08.00am this morning and so far havent spent a penny, other than to pay off this bill!!!:T :T :T

  • I hope to pay off my Next bill within the next few months, sounds a nightmare for you. Its better for your credit file if the account is closed properly surely ?

  • Send a letter saying you want written confermation that the account is closed and if they say no demand one.
This drives me up the wall, however its common practice.

theres loads of anecdotal evidence on here about next refusing to close accounts

Personally, I think its time for *us* to have a tougher stance, Ie knock a letter up between us stating legals such as the consumer credit act and the Data Protection Act, as its not on that Next repeatedly refuse to close accounts down. It makes me really annoyed on behalf of next users ;)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

Hear hear Lynz. Ridiculous really isn't it? It takes 2 to make a contract but only one to end it, once everything is paid.
