Negative Equity but wanting to move?

  • Well my intention was to use my savings as a deposit for a new place, but as I'm keeping my mortgage on what they advised me to do is to use the 'deposit' to bring my equity back under 100% then they can re-score me on affordability to get a higher mortgage.

    It's also worth asking your mortgage lender if they'll accept a shortfall sale. Mine are considering just that and they were quite open to the idea actually. Certainly worth a phone call, however, you'll need to give them a decent reason for doing it...
