Post Office Solicitors and AIP

Hi! Sorry, but I have two questions...

1) My wife and I are both FTB's. We have a 10% deposit and have an AIP from the PO for a mortgage for £160000. Any one have any idea how likely they are to accept us in our full application if we have an AIP?

2) the Post Office seem to be picky about who we can use as our conveyancing firm. I was wondering whether there is a list anywhere, or of anyone knows of a conveyancer thy we could use? We're based in Otley, West Yorkshire, just outside Leeds!

AIP is a good starting point and likelihood of full offer depends on what evidence you have against what you have stated in your original application but have heard people not getting the full offer for various reasons but usually because of something they did not declare or did not know about - make sure you check your credit report - I did and good job as both myself and my wife were taken off the electoral roll for no apparent reason (mistake by council) but would have affected the decision on our application, £5 later and many frantic calls to credit agencies and we're back on track !

We have the same problem about who is on the panel of solicitors for Halifax. Best way is to go to yellow pages and search for solicitors near you and ring them up for a quote, then ring up PO and give them your list of solicitors and ask them which ones are on their panel.
