Trade in old computers?

Does anyone know of anywhere I can trade in an old 'tablet' computer/laptop thing. My son - his first experience of computers - bought a tablet a few years back and now wants to upgrade. We all know how expensive computers are so I would like to trade in the old one and put the money towards a new one.
I know where to buy new ones but don't know where takes trade ins (around Belfast area but willing to travel).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

hi, Dont know anywhere to trade this in, but have you thought of selling this on ebay? may be worth a shot.
  • you may be better trying to sell it yourself on gumtree or through belfast telegraph etc. i may be wrong but i dont think there's anywhere that trades in as such- you could try selling in cash converters etc, but you wouldn't get much value from them.

If you do sell, make sure there's no trace of personal details on it. Give it a good clean

Haven't traded computers in here but we did trade in 3 mobile phones that we were getting next to nothing for elsewhere and got a good price from CEX. From that point of view I would recommend giving them a go. They have shops in Northern Ireland as well as trading on line.

Would second Gumtree after getting a price from CEX, plus as Sam says make sure its wiped by someone who really knows how to do it.

Residual value will be very little, as it will have a much lower specification than a new one. By that I mean it will have an old windows operating system (yes I know XP still works fine), slower processor, probably less memory and smaller hard disk, and a lot of new laptops have webcams built-in.

Trade in is extremely unlikely unless a manufacturer decides to offer a deal of this nature.
  • Prestige computers in Potinger's Entry will buy old laptops from you, to use for parts and the like, depending on what model and age they are.
