'Twist and Lock' Bathroom accessories - do they work?

This forum is such a mine of info! Another question..
I have seen (in Focus DIY), soap dishes, loo roll holders etc that claim to operate on a 'twist and lock' mechanism which requires no drilling.
This sounds great to me - but has anyone tried it? Does it work?

Only if the tiled surface is absolutely smooth & glossy. No good on tiles with ripple effect & no good on mat or satin finishes. I found this out only after I decided to buy some of the accessories.
I took mine back & got a refund for them with no problem after finding they didn't work in my bathroom. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
they work pretty well but i would say they do have a tendancy to drop off after a couple of months randomly so don't use them to keep anything heavy or valuable on. I started taking them down once a month and resticking so i didnt have them unexpectedly falling off.0

I had the same experience as hazybubbles. Mine fell off after about 2 months. To be fair, the instructions do tell you to re-do it every so often but I ignored them! I'm sure it would go back on but haven't quite decided if I wanted the hassle.0

Mine were given to a charity shop after each fell off with a loud thump in the middle of the night and gave me a fright - thought someone had come in the bathroom window.:eek:0

Waste of space, just drill and fix some proper fittings.;)0

We have just moved house and I have the towel ring and loo roll holder both of which have dropped off.
Can someone explain to me how to refit them please? :embarasse0 -
If you don't trust yourself to drill and fix try this stuff:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hotel-Quality-Chrome-Double-Towel/dp/B004M5GQM0
or Google 'Never Drill Again'
It's a German stick and fix system that works. If you look at the complete range you can opt for different price bands. All I can say is that, in my experience, you put them up and they stay up - end of.

So sorry to try your patience ormus.
The clear plastic part of the items seem to be set in to the frame so I don't see how wetting never mind glue'ing will work, unless of course you mean just glue the rim??
Thanks again to those trying to help me0 -

I think Ormus was referring to the 'Never Drill Again' product.
I had a quick look at the range as I loathe to drill into my beautiful tiles for a shower caddy and my thought was yes expensive and it is just glued but I suppose the issue is that most shower caddies are made to be fixed by screws rather than by glue. Does anyone know of any alternative glue-able ranges?0
