Hi, I'm just beginning to take the first steps to getting an IVA. I'm going through a firm of solicitors called Freeman Jones.
Has anyone out there had dealings with them or knows anything about them?
It's minefield out there and I wouldn't know if I had chosen a good firm or not, even with hours spent agonising over who is good and who isn't?
Help!!

Hi - try the IVA board here for all the ins and outs.

It's also worth getting advice from a charity such as CCCS (Consumer Credit Counselling Service), National Debtline or your local CAB to ensure an IVA is your best option and is not just being sold to you by people that want to make money out of your misery.
Good Luck

Please get impartial and free advice before you sign up with anyone. There is a quick link called "debt problems what to do and where to get help" (it's at the top of this thread). Or there is another thread which is at the top of the board you posted on called 'where to get impartial advice"0

Thank you for your replies but it seems the IVA is the way to go. I've long been at the stage of battling to pay the minimum amount on credit cards and then having to go buy essentials like groceries on the cards I've just paid.
I really feel like everything is imploding on me. I have to do something before someone does it for me. I don't own a property so I can't remortgage anything. I seem to live on credit and I need to get off this awful round-about.0 -
If you don't own a property or have a high income, then an IVA is probably NOT the best way to go. Speak to someone impartial who can help!
Have a look at the options from National Debtline http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/page.php?page=35_options_for_dealing_with_your_debts0
