What To Do About CCJ?

I have just been informed that one of my creditors has applied for a CCJ at Northampton court.

I am preparing to apply for a bankruptcy hearing, hopefully by the end of this month.

Is it best to:

1) Just ignore the CCJ paperwork?

2) Reply to the court stating I am intending to go bankrupt?

3) Contact the creditor informing them I am intending to go bankrupt? - my fear of doing this is that will try to send debt collectors etc round toute suite.

Or do you recommend something completely different?

Many thanks

DD

Dont ignore it. Never ignore court papers.

Reply with a defence that you are going BR and you will contact the creditor once it's done. Give a time-frame of when you are BR and include your appointment date if you have one. Tell them you have taken advice from one of the charities (Payplan or CCCS for eg) and this is the best course of action.

If the CCJ goes ahead then it wil be included in your BR anyway (if it goes on before then) and you can have it removed if it happens after your BR date.
  • Thank you for the reply Skylight - will get the papers filled in back to the court tomorrow.
