  • Me too! Or rather my wife.
We received a letter from Helploan saying we owed £513.00.

Had already cancelled my wife's credit card in July, as this had been used fraudelently and wondered if the fraudster had used this card as security.

Anyone phoned up a company in Watford? and left their credit information? Just a thought.
  • Contacted by CPP Identity fraud protection today, after registering with them regarding my recent "loan application" from MCO. The lady I spoke to today said they have had over 130 complaints about this company and thats just from people registered with them so it seems like its a very widespread fraud. Now going to check with all the credit reference agencies, as advised, to make sure they've not got at me in any other way.

I too have been hit by this unbelievable fraud - how could a company such as MCO Capital have been duped by what can only be described as criminal scammers. Fortunately (so far) I have not lost any money but I do worry about the potential impact on my credit rating?
I have written (Snail mail and email)to MCO advsing them that I have no knowledge of this loan nor did I apply for it - so far without response!

MCO seem to use Experian for their credit checks. If you get your Experian report then email them they will contact MCO on your behalf and have the loan removed from your credit file. This all happened smoothly and quickly for me and I'm assuming that my credit rating is unscathed.
  • Thanks for that tip Catherine - I have now emailed Experian - I tried to lof on to their web site but they wera sking for the type of data I didn't want known - like DoB and credit card number!!!!!:j

I have at long last managed to get my credit account details from Experian. Two checks from MCO Capital - one general check and one specifically for a loan. The damnable thing was that they were almost correct re my DoB but way out on time lived at current address.
Experian promised to remove checks and revert to me when this was done
  • At work today we were told about this fraud - it looks like MCO are the victims of sort as scammers have done them out of money bigtime.
To anyone who gets a demand letter - reply with the answer that you did not apply for the loan and did not receive any funds.

Up to MCO then to try and get their money back.

Makes you wonder just how many £3,000 loans MCO threw out in such a short space if time.

Try a google for MCO and the whole page is regarding this issue, the bottom result on the first page takes you Help Loan which appears to be MCO Capital.

Oddly enough, on the front page states
Apply for a loan from £50-£300 online.

Odd how they seem to have given out much more.
    “Helploan” is a trading name for MCO Capital Limited whose company number is 6472855 and whose registered office is Imperial House, 15-19 Kingsway, London WC2B 6UN;
  • me too. Thank you everyone for your posts on what you have done - good advice. I have written to MCO and asked them what proof of identity was provided to MCO and how did they authenticate it.
  • letters went out in n ireland today, rang up and were told that they were using stolen electoral registers and thats how they got our date of births, so letters still going out, reported it to police, hopefully will get sorted!
