Santander

Think this is right the forum for this so here goes... I made a purchase on credit through able2buy in '07 which meant ending up with an Edge card. I ended up with a balance of about £800, which I'd stupidly just gone and made minimum payments on (my fault and am not disputing that). Then in '08 I bought a bike from Halfords on a 10 month low-interest scheme (payment of 10 x £47 which has been paid off). However, both accounts ended up on a single account with GE money (now with Santander) and I have not only been paying the low amount of interest incurred from the bike purchase, but have been paying a higher amount (29.9%) on the combined total of both the bike and the initial £800 (total of around £1270). Is this right? It's two seperate contracts, so can they bundle them together?

Hope this makes sense and many thanks for any advice.

Edge is GE Money and Halfords used Edge. The computer would have shown you already held an account and would not allow you to open another. The bike would have been a fixed term agreement within the original agreement and a single document signed, 3 sheets I think. This would have operated totally independently from any other purchases on the card. If the bike was put through the till incorrectly it could have shown up as a card purchase and would attract interest from day 1 but you would have had to give your card to do this. Are you sure you have been paying interest on both purchases ?
