Can you freeze risotto?

Is it ok to freeze risotto? (I've put it in the freezer already so I hope you say yes!)

How do you defrost and reheat it?

thanks sarah. Wasn't sure whether I would have to add anymore water to it.

Husband always frowns when I stick leftovers in the freezer!

Just as with pasta dishes they can go a bit solid once defrosted and reheated. Add a bit more water or sauce once hot if it looks a bit dry. HTH

this is great news as I ahve often wondered this myself. Risotto can be a fiddle, so it's good to know that if i spent time making one big batch, I can reheat any leftovers that I have frozen.

    Thanks

I find home cooked rice comes out of the freezer with a grainy coating, any tips on what I am doing wrong please? I love risiotto but don't make it very often as I can't get it to freeze well, as r.mac says it can be a faff to make for just one meal.

When you have cooked the rice rince it with cold water before leaving it to cool. This removes the starch build up which is probably what the coating is.

I have frozen risotto before and it was fine, I just defrosted it and then warm it up.
