Ikea interest free?

I am interested in perhaps a sofa at Ikea and would do the interest free if possible. I notice that it says 12 months interest free on furniture over 500, and then at the bottom after an asterisk, it says, minimum spend for 12 months interest free credit is 1500
???
what does this mean? the sofa is probably going to be about 800 so could i get it with interest free or not?
i was at the flaming store today, it had taken me hours to get there (was there for some other products) and not one staff was free, they all had queues at their little desks and i was so late and stressed i couldnt wait around to ask them
does anyone here know?

I remember a question similar to this on MSE a while back
I don't think Ikea do IFC or even any cheap credit deals.
Best bet is to look on the MSE site for a credit card with 12 months interest free.

It seems they do now have IFC but only on kitchens with a spend of £1500+0 -
im guessing it means that anything under 1500 can be interest free but it will most likely be over 6/9 months. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Taken from Ikea website....

Make your dream home
a reality!
12 month's interest free credit on any furniture purchase
when you spend £500 or more!*
See in-store for details.
*Terms and conditions: This offer applies to all furniture purchased over £500 and can include Assembly Service. IKEA kitchen purchases have a higher qualifying threshold. Offer valid from 02/08/10 - 31/10/10. This does not affect your statutory rights. Credit provided by IKANO Financial Services Ltd and is available subject to status to UK residents aged 18 and over. As kitchen purchases have a higher minimum spend, I suspect the board you saw which mentioned £1500, related to kitchen purchases.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I take it all back!
As pointed out by aliasojo Ikea do have offers.
It seems you have to look on the individual stores website and not the main Ikea site, and not all the sites seem to list all or any of the offers.
aliasojo's quote looks to be from the Edinburgh site.
As the offer only seems to be in store
Visit the store today and take advantage of these fantastic offers! *Terms and conditions apply, see in store for details.
Since you've a long drive to get there -
Allow plenty of time.
go prepared
Possibly - passport and/or drivers licence.
A recent utility bill.
Credit card and/or bank statement.
Bank card (which you'll be using to pay off IFC)
Better to have too much paperwork than to find you have to go back home for something! (been there, seen it, done it - a few times;))0
