renting while on dmp

hi there, im new to posting but have lurked for a very long time!
I am just wondering if anyone can offer me any benefits of their experience - me and the hubs are just about to start our dmp. we currently live ina flat but will outgrow this most certainly in the target 5 years debt free date, as we have a little boy whose toys alone will need more room!
I think we are happy enough to sell our flat and rent a house then save for a deposit to get a new mortgage once our credit score has picked up a bit. we wont be able to do that for a while thought anyway, as currently our flat is in negative equity
we are one of the many victims of the together mortgage by the way!
I am jsut wondering, has anyone who is ona dmp had any experience of renting a new property, is it something nthe landlord would want to know about, would it affect your monthly rent or whether or not the landlord would accept u as a tenant??
sorry if it seems a daft question, would realy appreciate any advice!

HI!!
Our landlords have never asked, and i've never told them. Being on a dmp doesn't affect my paying rent. Never has, never will. We do stick with private landlords though, only because it's cheaper though. Estate agents want alot upfront, compared to private landlords. One landlady did look to see if we had any ccj's as part of a credit check, but we didn't. But then she's the only one who's done a credit check!DFD February 2012

Not sure exactly as my OH circumstance was bankrupcy but might help
When my Oh was looking to rent (before he went bankrupt) we were told if he didn't have any CCJs he would be ok on the credit checks with the letting agents. They also said if you did it would rule you out but they might want more deposit or 6 months rent up front.
He went bankrupt whilst we were living in the rented house and the landlord/letting agent never found out. By then we were living together and now have bought a house (but in my name only)0 -
As far as I know your credit rating will take up to 6 years to be "repaired" - if you rent privately most landlords wont do a credit check it's usually only the agencies that do.:A0
