Surely you have to cook something to put in them the night before/morning everyday? I currently have Ryvita, little tub of Phili, cherry tomatoes and carrot sticks, sometimes a bit of cold chicken... this takes me less than 5 minutes to throw in a lunch box. I like the idea of a hot lunch but doesn't take up loads of time to prepare?
If it keeps it warm overnight I can see some people could use leftovers but as a single person I tend to end up eating leftovers for dinner every night!!
Sorry bit late to answer this - we just pop them in the microwave in the morning whilst having breakfast/making coffee/having a shower. Then straight in the flasks and they keep warm for about 8 hours.
We decide the night before what they are going to have - snack, desert and drink go in the lunchbox and in the fridge, then next morning a few minutes in the microwave and into the flask. Its so easy and it saves me a fortune.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
I like boiled eggs (a pain to peel though), tomatoes, wholemeal buttered bread, an apple and a yoghurt. Good, old-fashioned, wholesome food, cheap and it's not going to kill me.0

My youngest has always been a fussy eater and packed lunches are a nightmare as he wants the same white bread and peanut butter sandwiches every day. He does like hummus and a few months ago I found some mini pots in the supermarket. Now I give them both sliced pitta bread and carrots and a mini pot of hummus some days and they love it. It's really quick too!0
