losing the the plot!!!

Hi all,

quick fill in about me, our LBM was 12th September last year, and in the year we've managed to pay off about 6k i think of our debt with a little bit of help from my husbands parents to get us out of the trap of having to pay for food etc on the credit card as we couldn't afford to eat for paying the bills etc. Since then we've been a bit rubbish really, we've wasted money and I'm mad with myself. ON a plus side i know we've not used a credit card or store card in almost a year but i feel we could of done more.

Few days ago i started again, writitng everything down and it has depressed me to see how much we are spending on shopping again. We were so good this time last year, not having take aways, or anything, being really strict with food shopping etc but i seemed to have lost my way a bit.

I know the answer is to get through this and get back on track, but when do you manage when you know it's the long haul? How can i stop us from slipping back into this spending? I know we are NO where near as we were last year, each month we actually still have money in the bank at the end of the month!! and i mean more than a few pence lol. We are earning interest on even the bill account which is good, and we have started putting a little away for emergencies (like a couple of quid have £50 so far)

I guess i just needed to write it down so i was admitting to myself that we were doing badly ;(

thanks
Carolyn

Don't worry - it's really easy to fall back into old habits but you are doing so much better than you were this time last year and once you sort out your spending on shopping/takeaways etc then you'll be back on track.

talk to your OH and put a plan of action together, maybe allowing yourself the odd takeaway or indulgent item in your shopping trolley so that you don't feel too tempted to stray and try and use up what you have in your cupboards already.

Well done for not using your credit cards! :T

    Good luck!
