You just made me remember i used to write each job i had to do on a post it note which then went on the appropriate page in my plan a day diary. It was very therapeutic to screw it up after the job was done.

i hoarded them for years and hardly ever used them. I could open a post it note shop. I have a nice array of shapes, designs and colours. yet i'm still writing on both sides and getting my moneys worth. I think I need help :o:D

i like to cross things off, rip it up into tiny bits and then ultimately shower them into my recycling bin.

I'm sure a psychiatrist would have a field day with me :D

  • have you got much of a renovation project on your hands?

Well I want to do my floors... I'm currently working again on my bedroom (I stopped when it got really cold cos I'm a woss) and I've stripped the wallpaper, sanded the wall (killer!), plastered all the holes and have put on my undercoat. When I get back I'll do the ceilings, Coving and skirting boards and the actual top coats. THEN I'll pull up the carpet and see how bad the floor is...

I think the wood is moist and rotting tbh but I really want my wooden floorboards so we'll see. They will need to be polished and sanded before I move I to the bedroom.

The last bit to do then is the windows, doors (which I may do before because of the mess), get new curtain rails and curtains up and then decorate and get furniture in! Whew!

And that's just the one room and use never done anything like this before :-)

Nothing wrong with having a few odd quirks! It's what makes the individual exactly that :-)

  • Seriously seeking - you are a bit of a nutter in a nice way. I can understand where you are coming from though. It still sounds so much nicer than your last place, and if you are happy, who cares. You'd like my old kitchen and bathroom pictures on my old diary. :D We lived with them for nearly 7 years and walked around with blinkers on. :rotfl:

    Yup I am a bit of a nutter :D

In my time (or 'doing my time') of flatsharing I have found out the things that really matter to me.

    1. Coming home to your own space that you feel comfortable in (living with couples were the worst; even when my name was on the lease I constantly felt like an intruder).
    2. Living in a non vermin infested home ;)
    and
    3. Being able to get a good nights sleep. No foxes shagging outside my window, no home renovations (hammering, sawing and sanding) going on downstairs in the middle of the night, no flatmate who turns his t.v. on full bore at 3am in the morning and waking me up because I can hear it clearly through paper thin walls.

    Life is Bliss!

phoned the IR and the tax rebate cheque balance is correct :j which is handy because I had a statement for a credit card through, and I'd forgotten quite how much money we'd put on there through buying furniture. So the cheque has paid off half of that outstanding balance and I don't feel like it has cost us anything IYSWIM.

Friday was payday, so today I've transferred over £50 as an OP. Hope to make a second OP by the end of the month depending on what £ is floating around.

have also decided to start saving £2 coins. Not saving for anything in particular, I just like how quickly it builds into a substantial sum whilst still being a small enough amount that i don't drastically feel it's absence.

more doom and gloom came out this week about the financial situation facing my school. I'm still chipping away at the 'to do' list. Starting to feel more productive and less bogged down. If I can keep this up for the next 3 weeks half term should be reasonably relaxing for once.

OH finished his run of overtime tonight. He's been doing 6 day weeks since Oct/Nov time. We are getting on fantastically well at the moment, so looking forward to having some more time to spend with him. We have loads of DVDs to watch snuggled up on the sofa for when we can't be bothered to go out or want to save the pennies.

    and now for new targets

    AROUND THE HOUSE
*get curtains or blinds for dining room and study

have been looking into this tonight (whilst trying to ignore my pile of marking :D) and have discovered that whilst they are not as cheap as the ikea ones we have elsewhere in the house, custom made wooden venetion blinds are not prohibitively expensive.

We have awkward square bay windows in these two rooms. They are not awkward because of their shape, but because the smaller windows have a max width of 30cm, and the smallest ready made blind I can find anywhere is 60cm. I've heard nightmare stories from people who have tried to cut them to measure - think I'd rather invest the money in getting decent blinds that will last.

I've requested samples from 2 different companies to see what will work best. Fully customised blinds for the 2 bays (8 blinds in total) will cost around £250 max (they have l-o-n-g drops which bumps the price up considerably). or, if we find a very good colour match for the ikea blinds, we could do half and half if it will save some £sss.

this is my mission for this month. Cannot cope with a south facing study with no window coverings for much longer

  • That's next on our agenda in Castle OM! We have had some of Hillary's blinds which whilst good were expensive, so we're planning to go to a local supplier and see how it goes.

I think we'll see how we can do in the next few months - there's a long list of small things to do in the house, we we will get a to do list and get cracking, one task a month maybe.

Also, we figure getting a decent set of blinds only acts as a decent selling point when you want to sell the house.

  • I have a year 7 form so won't have to do the form tutor comments for a good few months yet, they aren't due for a while.

I've written two reports and am already bored/losing the will to live. I have 60 odd of the bloody things to write by Friday

I have a vertical TG so wondering when/whether I should have written teacher comments:eek:

GFH if no one has moaned at you yet you've probably gotten away with it! And if nothing else, you can always blame it on baby brain!

colour samples for the blinds arrived today - superb service thus far from the two companies. Will measure up with OH tomorrow as he has the night off ( a lieu day from working bank hols at xmas) and order those so that, if we don't get a chance sooner, they can go up during feb half term.

OH has sorted out his mobile contract (finally :j) so that will save us almost £10/ month. He gets a free voucher (£50) for registering the phone, so he's ordered me a Dotty P's one as I need new clothes for school.

Nice to feel a plan coming together (she says, having turned a blind eye to the drastic lack of progress elsewhere. one step at a time eh?!)

had our 2nd gas bill from BG yesterday - OH nearly had a heart attack - they wanted £355 on top of the £54 we pay a month  closer inspection revealed that there was a HUGE discrepancy between our meter reading and the recording submitted by the idiot that 'read' our meter a week ago. A quick call to BG revealed that we actually only owe them £1.50!!!! I must say that the service I receive when I phone them is never anything less than superb. Mentioned yesterday that we were planning on shopping around (yes, it is STILL on the to-do list :o) and was told that they do do retention deals, so I will be hoping to take advantage of that as I can't fault them for service. They now offer Nectar points as well so registered for that as an extra perk.

school is manic as ever. I swing violently from 'I'll never get it all done ' to 'I am woman, hear me roar :D' on what seems to be an hourly basis, although the over-riding feeling is that I'm s-l-o-w-l-y starting to feel like I am getting more on top of things (as much as you ever can be in teaching anyway). getting to the middle of March when coursework for most of my exam classes is submitted will be a huge relief - then the pressure of modular exams begins!

signed up another client for tutor work last night so that will be some extra money for OPing from March. he's a lovely lad so looking forward to working with him

right, must dash - work to mark, lessons to plan, lunch to make.
