Hi
I have a current account with HSBC and have a arranged overdraft of £1500, i frequently go over this and have been receiving charges of £150 each month, im am currently unemployed, my husbands wages go in weekly, as did our child benefit and tax credits, we also have outstanding debts and are currently in a debt management plan with cccs, however we have built this overdraft up since we started our dmp several years ago, due to the charges we seem to be struggling more and more, i have recently opened a cashminder account and put the child benefit and tax credits into these so at least we have a little money to pay the basics food etc, as we are struggling to pay anything off the overdraft im tempted to shift my husbands wages into the cashminder account, then pay a little into the hsbc account every week approx £50 to try and pay this off? Will they still be able to charge me if there are no transactions going out of this account, i just want to reduce this debt as quickly as possible? any advice would be appreciated, thank.

As you have moved to a Cashminder account have you thought of adding your overdraft to your DMP? Mine is included and they have stopped charging interest and charges for me.Debt-Free Wannabe / Long Haul Supporter 238 - Proud to be Dealing with my DebtsLBM Moment June 2010 DMP with CCCS Started August 2010Total Debt at LBM = £17,602.74 / Current Debt = £16,285.76 / Cleared = £1.316.98 (7.5%)0

i have thought about this, suppose im worried that they would not take this on as we have built up this debt since we took out our dmp around 2002, but its because of the charges every month that we are unable to stay within the limit and so it continues month after month its a vicious circle if i could stop the charges i could put that money towards to overdraft debt0

Who is your DMP with? Have you spoken to them and asked their advice?Debt-Free Wannabe / Long Haul Supporter 238 - Proud to be Dealing with my DebtsLBM Moment June 2010 DMP with CCCS Started August 2010Total Debt at LBM = £17,602.74 / Current Debt = £16,285.76 / Cleared = £1.316.98 (7.5%)0

its with cccs, no havent spoken to them, but i know that you are not suppose to take any more credit once you are on a dmp but sometimes its unavoidable, thats why i was thinking of just trying to repay this one seperatly, also as i have child savings accounts with hsbc am worried that they could take this to pay off our overdraft, this is money that they have been giving by family so cannot use this to pay overdraft.0
